There was a lot of talk in the buildup for Wilder vs. Breazeale. But tonight, May 18, Deontay Wilder and his right hand had the last word. Both men started a little faster than usual, probably due to the nerves and genuine bad blood surrounding the fight. Wilder would land old reliable, his right hand, and stagger Breazeale. A few seconds later, he would create yet another highlight-reel KO as he landed a right hand that slumped Breazeale into a heap. Breazeale was counted out at 2:17 in the first round, and even when he did get to his feet, he was in terrible shape still.
Wilder improves to 41-0-1 while Breazeale falls to 22-2.
