Eryk Anders Defeats Weidman by TKO, Stays Commited To Retire After 2 More Fights
Eryk Anders pulled out some tools he normally doesn't use on his way to defeat Chris Weidman. Namely grappling.
Although he got the victory, the opening round wasn't his best; Anders illegally kneed Weidman while grounded, as well as found himself in trouble after being clipped with a counter left hand.
Anders stayed focused and was able to overcome the slow start to get the stoppage at 4:51 of the second round, thrashing his opponent and forcing the referee to step in. "Overcome" has been a theme that Anders has taken very personally. He reiterated this point in the post fight interview with Joe Rogan, specifically mentioning how he has put the drugs down, removed toxic people out of his life, and regained custody of his kids.
Anders also reconfirmed the promise he made last June of leaving the sport after five more fights. His victory over Weidman makes three fights.
That means two more fights and "Ya Boi" is done.
